Top 10 Favorite Movies: 5 - The Birds

Alfred Hitchcock is the master of horror films. Hitchcock didn't need gore and blood. He didn't need to make the lighting super dark and he didn't need to be really suspenseful. Hitchcock just played on basic human fears. Hitchcock films were usually situations that weren't out of the realm of possibility. A man thinks he witnesses his neighbor kill his wife and dump the body and his fight to prove that the neighbor did do it. A man's best friend is a rapist and murderer. These things could happen to anybody any day.

And the Birds is my favorite of all the Hitchcock films. My sister has never seen the Birds. If she saw the Birds she wouldn't sleep for months. She is scared of birds and watching a movie where birds attack people would probably ruin her life. I on the other hand love the movie. Birds don't scare me and an organized bird attack is highly unlikely but the idea that a disease or something could cause animals to go crazy and just start attacking people in nuts. The scene where the birds attack the school children is crazy!

Although The Birds is old and looks old and visually isn't really anything to gawk over, the idea is too strong and the way the movie plays on basic human fear is too good.
